I loved Children of Men. I think it was more a perspective on race and how easily we can loose our morals in troubled times. Easily one of the top five Sci-Fi movies ever made in my book.

If the G.B. and WTS don't have good motives, what is the point.....
by Mightyone inthis may be the topic of an old thread but, if the g.b.
and wts don't have good motives, what is the point of the whole religion?
i mean, it doesn't appear that anybody is getting rich or am i missing something.

I like how everyone is throwing around these motives the GB has that can't be proven. The only factually perspective we have to go on is that of Ray Franz, and he believed that the intentions were good in the sense that these people really believed what they were doing was good. That being said there has not been one scrap of evidence to suggest these men have evil motives or are intentionally and maliciously pulling the wool over peoples eyes.

I think it is safe to say there is no "evil" conspiracy in the WTS. That being said it takes a long time for things to change in any strict society. Just look at the British empire for god's sake. Some people on here would simply cream their panties if it came out there was an evil empire. This though I strongly doubt. Just a bunch of old people in the GB afraid of major change. Slowly it will turn in to another main stream casual religion.

I think a better idea would be for a member to sue over where the money is being spent. I could see this pickng up steam really fast. The news would junp all over the story and it would be (I think) uncharted legal territory. You could claim that since it is a donation you are legally entitled to see what and where your monies are being spent. This would open a whole can of orms for the WTS. Especially if it came out donations to the world wide work were being used to pay off the molestaion cases.
Also you would public suport on your side. The question would be, "why is this charity fighting this? What are trying to hide". That in it's self is a win. I think nomatter what there would be good consequences for this. The question is do charities like the Sierre Club and PETA disclose where thier monies are spent? I would think the argument that they are tax exempt strps them of the right privacy of spendimg.

Two of my favorites:
If blood equals life (metaphorically) then why did Jesus say there was no greater act then giving your life for a friend, yet you are not allowed to donate blood?
Jesus said the only way to everlasting life was through him. Paul and others taught that only through Jesus could we find everlasting life. Do you believe that the emphasis of what Paul and other apostles taught can be gleamed by reading the bible? If so how do you justify that you at the least must claim membership into your organization? Isn't this teaching a new gospel?

Old JW memories.
by nicolaou inwith all the talk about the book study recently i couldn't help recalling the old 'group' we used to go to from about 1970. i remember the smell of those books, the drone of the study conductor and the struggle - often in vain - to keep my eyes open.. i remember my old ministry briefcase and the kitchen of the sister where we used to meet for field service.
she was my best friends mum.
i can still feel the biting wind at twickenham conventions and the overheated, dehydrating stuffiness of bowes rd assembly hall.. i remember shuffling the snow with my shoes at the doors of homes i didn't want to be at.

I remember the hot Columbia South Carolina days and how we had to roll the windows down with the air at full blast...it defied logic to me at the time. It really was that hot though. I also remember trying to stick a McDonald's Monopoly piece (Park Place) on the wall and it dropping and me not caring, then a week later getting Boardwalk needing that piece to win. My million dollar ticket, lost at a fucking District Convention...how poetic.

I had this idea a while a go. I thought it could be called something like, "happyexwitness.com" where people talk about how they are happy and have a good support network with out the JW's.
